Obituary of John Earl Schwartz

John Earl Schwartz, 79, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday, January 23. 2021 at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV. He was born January 1, 1942 in Norfolk, VA, a son of the late John T. and Margaret Jane Haskell Schwartz. Mr. Schwartz was a Christian by faith and graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. He was a veteran with the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam Era. John was an ASE Certified Master Technical Mechanic. He worked for many years with Tarleton Buick Oldsmobile in Fairmont. He was a General Motors Service Consultant, and later and Emissions Station Operator in Maryland. John was a volunteer fireman having served with several stations locally, including Barrackville. He enjoyed traveling extensively, and collecting model cars and trains. He loved genealogy and learning his about the generations of family history. Survivors include his daughters, Katherine and Russell Wright of Fairmont, Pamela and Lee Hernandez of Maryland, and Mary and Gary Jones of Lost Creek, WV, his former wife and mother to his children, Barbara Wood, his grandchildren, Bradley Wright, Nathaniel Wright, Kirsti Woodward, Julia Lamar, James Woodward IV, Joshua Hernandez, and Samuel Hernandez, as well as five great grandchildren and three sisters, Elizabeth and David Gray of Fairmont, Mary Kathleen Schwartz, and Barbara Jean Pill. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic the family has chosen to have all services held privately. Private graveside committal will be held at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV with the Marion County Veterans Council providing military rites.
