Obituary of Fred Carl "Freddie Carl" Park

Fred Carl “Freddie Carl” Park, 85, of the Monumental Community passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born June 5, 1935 in Miracle Run, Monongalia County, a son of the late James Wayman and Frances Gertrude Clovis Park. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 ½ years, Linda L. Wilson Park. Mr. Park was a member of the Monumental United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, an usher, as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, as well as a member of the United Methodist Men. He was a 1953 graduate of Clay Battelle High School. He was retired from the Marion County Board of Education with over 30 years of service as a school bus driver. He had previously worked at Owens Illinois as a machine operator in the bottling department with 23 years of service, and prior to had worked with the Yost Tire Shop in Burton, WV. Fred’s true love was farming his family farm in Wadestown for over sixty years that spanned the time of four generations. In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his sons, Brian and Audrey Park of Blacksville, and Craig Park of Monumental, his grandson Tyler Park of Fairmont, his brothers Clarence and Sue Park of Wadestown, WV, Jay and Carolyn Park of Blacksville, his sister Nola and David Chisler of Blacksville, his sister-in-law, Rebecca and Donald Grimm of Clarksville, TN, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank WV Caring Hospice and their nurse Louise Morgan, as well as their niece Amy Gilbert for their love and care given to Fred. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic all services will be held privately with Reverend Stephanie Bennett officiating. Interment will be held privately at the Monumental Cemetery.
