Obituary of Goldie Margaret Holbrook

Goldie Margaret Holbrook, 92, of the Smithtown Community passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Morgantown. She was born July 23, 1924 in Obetz, Ohio, a daughter of the late Cush Franklin and Stella M. Everett Sherman. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene A. Holbrook on March 17, 1986. Mrs. Holbrook was a Protestant by faith. She belonged to the Wadepark Methodist Church in Cleveland, OH where she taught Sunday School for many years. She retired from the Woolworth Company in Cleveland, OH with over 25 years of service as a bookkeeper. Goldie enjoyed bowling in past years, as well as taking long walks when she was able. She enjoyed being in the company of her loving family and friends. Survivors include her son, Jerry Holbrook of Cleveland, her daughter, Judy and her husband Warren Francis of Smithtown, her daughter-in-law, Jodie Holbrook of Kentucky. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Lisa Morgan, and Kevin and his wife Melissa Morgan, a granddaughter-in-law, Janice Morgan, her great grandchildren; Hayley Wilburn and Alexa Morgan, a special sister-in-law, Tammy Hamner and her children Dani, Gabi, and Devin Hamner, as well as various other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Holbrook and Paul Holbrook, her daughter –in-law, Debbie Holbrook, her grandson, Michael Morgan, her brother, Cush Sherman, sisters, Evelyn Grubba and Rose Miller, and her step-father William Garrett. Friends and family may visit the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday, April 13, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jim Zinn officiating.
