Obituary of Eleanor Lucille Allard

Eleanor Lucille Allard, 78, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born June 10, 1938 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Guy and Lois Rutherford Abel. She was preceded in death in 1994 by her husband, James C. Allard. Eleanor was a 1956 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. She was a member of the Life United Methodist Church in Fairmont. She retired from the ABC State Store where she was a clerk for many years, and she previously worked at Westinghouse. Eleanor enjoyed trips to Atlantic City with her good friends. She loved to watch WVU and Steelers games. She mostly loved being with her family and following her granchildrens’ sporting events. She resided with her son and his family to help care for and raise her grandchildren when her triplet granddaughters were born. Her family meant the world to her. Survivor include her sons, Douglas P. and his wife Natalie Allard of Fairmont, and Donald and his wife Cindy Allard of Fairmont, son-in-law, Earl Huff of Salem; grandchildren: Kyle and his wife Ashley Allard of Charleston, SC; Jamie and his wife Kirbee Allard of Gambrills, MD; Rachel Huff of Salem; Sara Allard, Leah Allard, and Anna Allard, all of Fairmont; Heather and her husband Matt Springer of Fairmont; and Heidi and her husband Chris Ude of Bridgeport, WV; a great granddaughter, Samantha Lynn Allard; sisters, Mary Merico of Grant Town, Elizabeth “Libby” and her husband Robert Bentti of Independence, KY, Dessie Haught of Fairmont, Linda and her husband James Bingamon of Fairmont, and Janet an her husband Dale Rush of Fairmont, sister- in-law, Margaret Abel of Fairmont, In addition her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicky E. Allard Huff; her sisters: Alberta Abel, Carolyn Sue Abel, and Peggy Lou Abel, her brother Robert Abel, brothers-in-law, Anthony Merico, and Andy Haught. Eleanor is also preceded in death by several half- brothers and half-sisters and her niece, Patricia Henderson. Eleanor’s family would like to give a special thank you to their aunt Linda Bingamon for all her help and special care of Eleanor over the years. Friends and family may visit at the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 4PM until 8PM and on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11 AM with Reverend Clyde Beard officiating. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV.
