Obituary of Stanley B. Tennant

Stanley B. Tennant, 92, of Pleasant Valley, passed away in his home on Thursday, April 4, 2024. He was born in Blacksville on March 8, 1932, a son to the late Learney Dice and Bertha Mae (Wilson) Tennant. He was preceded in death by his loving wife on August 25, 2018, Elaine Mae Tennant. Stanley is survived by his children, Sheila and her husband Tom McGinnis, Rex and his wife Jacklyn Tennant, Nancy Tennant Goode and her husband Shawn, and his estranged son, Charles Tennant, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 brother Billy Tennant of Fairview, as well as several nieces and nephews. Stanley was a member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church and a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Hershel ‘Woody’ Williams V.F.W Post 7048. Throughout his career, Stanley worked as a Machine Attendant with the Westinghouse Corporation. In his spare time, Stanley enjoyed painting, gardening, cutting the yard, and spending time with family. In addition to his parents and wife, Stanley was preceded in death by his siblings, Learney Tennant Jr., Homer Tennant, Dwayne “Bud” Tennant, Helen Tennant, Pansy Lowther, Violet Conner, Marjorie Kiger, Mavis Lantz, and Jean Berry. The family would like to thank WVU Medicine Hospice for their loving care and support. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 2 pm until 4 pm and from 6 pm until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1511 Pleasant Valley Road, Fairmont, from 10 am until 11 am. The funeral service will be held in the church at 11 am with Reverend Andrew Tennant and Pastor Jackie Chambers officiating. A service of committal will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
