Obituary of Jo Ann Hamrick

Jo Ann Townsend Hamrick, 88, of Rivesville, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 8, 1935 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Howard L. and Cordelia A. Harris Townsend. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Hamrick. Mrs. Hamrick was a member of the Highlawns United Methodist Church in Rivesville and a graduate of Rivesville High School. Jo Ann was a dedicated mother and a homemaker first and foremost. She enjoyed being the “neighborhood mother” to all her childrens’ friends. After her husband was able to retire, she began working with Colassano’s Pizza in Bellview where she baked pepperoni rolls and pizza for over twenty years. Jo Ann is survived by her children, Beverly Ann “Becky” and her husband Tim Conrad of Fairmont, and James Joseph “Beaver” and his wife Cheryl Hamrick of Rivesville, five grandchildren: Jamie and her husband Tommy Kerns, Kris Owens, Jeremy and his wife Lindsey Owens, Kyle Joseph and wife Zita Hamrick, and Kaylee and her husband Matt Shoemaker, as well as seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her son-in law, Larry and his wife Kim Owens of Monongah, daughter-in-law Robin Hamrick of Rivesville, sisters-in-law Judy and her husband Edward Smith of Rivesville, and Janice Hamrick of Rivesville. Preceded in death by her daughter, Jo Ann “Toby” Owens, her brother, Frank “Bo” and his wife Yvonne Townsend, her sisters, Wanda and her husband Paul Kerekes, and Lillian and her husband Frank Parker, and her brothers-in-law, Cleo Hamrick , and Guy and his wife Louise Jean Hamrick. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street. Rivesville, WV. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 2PM until 8PM and on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 11AM until 1PM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home at 1PM with Pastor Roy Weese officiating. Interment will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV.
