Obituary of Cleo C. Hamrick

Cleo C. Hamrick, 85, of Rivesville, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 8, 2024. He was born on January 29, 1939 in Rivesville, the son of the late Cleo and Anna Hamrick. Cleo is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Janice (Toothman) Hamrick. Cleo was a 1956 graduate of Rivesville High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He retired as a Maintenance Foreman from Consol Blacksville #2 after 42 years of service. Cleo was an avid runner and participated in as many as 17 marathons. He enjoyed the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Cleo loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and WV Mountaineers. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #294, member of the Fairmont Lodge #9 AF & AM, member of the Osiris Shrine Center, Wheeling, WV, member of the Upper Mon Valley Shrine Club, Fairmont, WV, and a member of the VFW Post 629. Cleo will also be missed by his daughter Kim Hofmeister (Jay) of McMurray, PA; Jeff Hamrick (Nancy) of Summerville, SC; and Mike Hamrick (Vonda) of Frederick, CO. Seven grandchildren Brittny Carpenter; Jarrod (Kate) Hamrick; Justin Hamrick; Travis (Jesse) Hamrick; Amber Hamrick; Emily (Kevin) Krieger; and Devan Hamrick. Eleven great grandchildren; one sister Judy (Eddie) Smith of Rivesville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers (Guy and Jim) along with one niece and two nephews. The family has entrusted the care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588. Friends will be received on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 2pm until 8pm and again on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 11 am until 12 noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 12 noon. Interment will follow in the McCurdysville Cemetery.
