Obituary of Jack Morgan

Jack Morgan, 93, of McCurdysville Community, Rivesville, WV passed away surrounded by his loving family at home on Saturday, January 27, 2024. He was born September 27, 1930 in Shinnston, WV a son of the late Orville Guy Morgan & Addie Mabel Ashcraft Morgan. He is survived by his devoted wife Saundra Ann Sharps Morgan. Mr. Morgan is survived by his two sons, Todd Morgan and his wife Misty of Fairmont, WV and Jeff Morgan & his companion Kelly Osbourn-Hamrick of Rivesville, a daughter, Jackie Morgan Pingley and her husband Tim of Vienna, WV, a sister Lillian Southern of Shinnston, WV, four grandchildren, Tyler Morgan & his wife Tatiana, Mason Pingley, Zoe Pingley, and Zack Morgan. He is also survived by many loved nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother Eugene Morgan. Jack was a 1950 graduate of Shinnston High School where he was a standout athlete in both football and basketball. He was an outstanding basketball player and lead his team to the WV State Basketball Tournament. He was an invited walk on at WVU, but chose to serve his country by joining the United States Navy where he fought during the Korean War. He loved spending time on his farm where he enjoyed hunting and taking care of his ponies. He was an avid West Virginia University sports fan and attended in person for many years. He was a family man and spending time with his loved ones was his greatest joy in life. Jack was an owner and operator of the Dry Cleaning World in Fairmont, WV and a former Postmaster for the United States Postal Service. The family would like to thank the Veterans Administration Caregivers, WVU Home Health and the WV Caring Hospice for their kindness, care and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. The visitation and funeral service will be private. A private service of committal and entombment will follow in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery & Mausoleum. Full Military Funeral Honors will be held at the cemetery.
