Obituary of Gary W. Hess

Gary W. Hess, 64, of Rivesville, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 in Grove City, PA. He was born October 27, 1952 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Jack and Louise Hartman Hess. He is survived by his wife, Diane Gaines Hess. Gary was a 1970 graduate of Rivesville High School. He attended The Baptist Temple Church of Fairmont. He was a veteran with the United States Navy having served during Vietnam on the USS John King. Gary retired in 2014 from Novelis in Fairmont after 36 years of service in the slitting department. He had previously worked Gee Bees Department Store where he was the head union representative. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America and the Fairmont Moose Lodge where he had recently received his 30 year membership pin. Gary had league bowled for many years in the Fairmont area. He and his wife enjoyed traveling together. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his only grandchild, Beatrice, who brought much joy and love to his life. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Trina and her husband Rob Clevenger of Rivesville; a granddaughter, Beatrice Clevenger; a brother, Jack Hess, of Rivesville; a nephew, Jacob Hess; brother and sister in law, Gil and Liz Parrish of Bridgeport, many aunts, uncles, and cousins; a special family: Cam and his wife Leann Sayre, Josh and his wife Nikki Overking, and their girls, Taylor and his wife Missy Downs, and Anthony and his wife Autumn Menas; and many close friends. Friends and family may call the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd and Jasper Streets, Rivesville, WV on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 2PM until 8PM, and on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, at 11AM with Rev. Dr. Holley Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV.
