Obituary of Laura Lee Harki

Laura Lee Harki, 76, of Bridgeport, passed away holding hands with her loving husband of 56 years, Jim. She was born on October 2, 1946 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Joe and June Nuzum Harry. Laura was a 1964 graduate from Fairmont Senior High School. She spent the majority of her time working as a teller at Wesbanco Bank. Throughout her career, she also worked at Jones Department and WT Grants. Laura was an active member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church, where she assisted with the After School Program. She was also active in the Bridgeport United Methodist Women and Junior Women’s Club. In addition to her husband, Laura is survived by her son, James Matthew (Lee Ann) Harki, two sisters, Rosalynd Harsh and Janine Hackenbracht, one brother-in- law, Ronald Alan (Debbie) Harki, and two granddaughters, Audrey Jean Harki and Abigail Grace Harki. She is also survived by 6 nieces and nephews, David, Joe, Dan, Michael, Andrea, and Brittany, as well as 11 great nieces and nephews. In her spare time, Laura served as a parent volunteer at Simpson Creek Elementary School and at the Clarksburg Kennel Club. She was a member of many organizations including Beta Sigma Phi, West Virginia Tracking Group. Foster Parent Harrison County Humane Society, and Foster Parent Seeing Eye Dog in Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Laura’s memory to the Clarksburg Humane Society, 2450 Saltwell Rd, Shinnston, WV 26431 or Bridgeport United Methodist Church. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Friends will be received at Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Dr, Bridgeport, WV 26330 on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 3 pm until 8 pm and on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 11 am until 12 noon. The funeral service will be held in the church on Monday at 12 noon with Reverend Dr. Matthew Paugh and Reverend Dale Waters officiating. Interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
