Obituary of Paul Richard "Dick" Keefover

Early Sunday morning, September 3, 2023, Paul Richard “Dick” Keefover, 87, of Katy, formerly of Rivesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born February 23, 1936 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Lyman Ward “Nick” and Ruth Luckey Keefover. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Judith A. Henry Keefover. Dick was a 1954 graduate of Rivesville High School, and a veteran with the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Germany as a radio operator. Dick was a man of God, a Christian, and a member of the Rivesville United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir with his wife Judy. Dick retired from the Rivesville Power Station with over 27 years of service as a shift supervisor. Dick loved the outdoors, was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. After retirement, he and his wife wintered in Ocala, Florida for many years where he had a bluegrass band. Dick was a musician and a singer, he played many instruments including the mandolin, guitar, fiddle, and harmonica. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Susan Hooten and her fiancé Stan Frye of North Carolina, and Lynn and her husband Bob Glance of Katy, WV, his son, Paul R. Keefover, II of Fairmont, his grandchildren: Erica and her husband Tyler Forrester, Ryan Glance, Stephanie Glance, Adara Hooten, Makenna Hooten, and Jessical Garceau, as well nine great-grandchildren, and several close friends and neighbors. Dick was preceded in death by his siblings: Robert Keefover, Lyman “June” Keefover, Margaret Scur, Muriel “Sis” Bunner, and David Keefover. Memorial donations may be made to the Rivesville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 66, Rivesville, WV 26588. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV. In accordance with his wishes, cremation services will take place. A memorial service will be held at Rivesville United Methodist Church, 101 Jasper St. Rivesville, WV 26588 on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11 AM with Pastor David Stilgenbauer and Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the church following the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV.
