Obituary of Rose Marie "Toddy" Hayhurst

Rose Marie “Toddy” Hayhurst, 88, of Suncrest Boulevard, Fairmont, WV, passed away late Sunday evening in Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairmont, WV. She was born June 28, 1928 in Fairmont, WV, daughter of the late Hazel Lorraine Merrifield Shaffer. Mrs. Hayhurst was a member of Oakwood Church of Christ in Fairmont, WV. She was employed with Interstate Engineers for 30 years in the housekeeping dept. Toddy loved spending evenings on her back porch enjoying wildlife the often showed up in her yard. She also loved to go shopping, go to garage sales, enjoyed gardening with her many flowers, and loved listening to Elvis Presley music. Her greatest love and concern was giving and helping others less fortunate. Survivors include her husband, Jack Hayhurst of Fairmont, WV, a son and his wife, Robert “Jack” and Susan Dempsey, a granddaughter and her husband, Jaycee Dempsey and Terry Lee Smith of Richmond, VA, 2 sisters; Kitty Boyce of New Castle, PA and Alice Louise Bunner of Pleasant View, Rivesville, WV. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers-in-law; Paul Boyce, John W. Terlosky, and Richard G. Bunner . Friends and family may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV from 3pm until 7pm on Thursday and 10am until 11am on Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Friday morning, 10-28-2016, at 11am, with Evangelist Brent Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Wyatt, WV.
