Obituary of William "Bill" Coburn
William “Bill” Coburn, 74, of Fairmont Road, Rivesville, WV, passed away early Saturday afternoon, May 21, 2016, in Monongalia County, WV. He was born April 2, 1942 in Crown, WV, son of the late Albert and Elfreda Trickett Coburn. Mr. Coburn was a retired coal miner, working at Consol / Osage mines, with 28 years of service. He was a member of U.M.W.A., Fairmont local 1501. He earlier served as a mechanic for Garvin’s Dairy. He also was a long-time employee for Jack Smith Auto Wrecking in Mt. Morris, PA. Mr. Coburn enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving his 4 wheeler. He enjoyed family trips to Smoke Hole. He truly was an outdoor person. He often collected bricks and rocks for gardening. He loved his pets. Survivors include his wife, Doris Jean Coburn of Rivesville, WV, 3 sons and their spouses; Joseph Brian and Megan Coburn of Rivesville, WV, John Edward Coburn of Fairmont, WV, and William Franklin Coburn, Jr. of Fairmont, WV, 4 daughters; JoAnn “Toot” Baker and her partner Dan Whinnie of Barrackville, WV, Deanna Marie Coburn of Belington, WV, Chrystal Haseleu and her partner Eugene Levtov of Chesapeake, VA, and Sharon Clutter of Fairmont, WV, a sister and her husband, Phyllis and John Jimmie of Fairmont, WV, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Larry and Albert Coburn. Mr. Coburn has chosen cremation services. His family will greet friends on Sunday, May 29, 2016, from 11am until 2pm at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper St., Rivesville, WV, with a memorial service to follow at 2pm.
