I was privileged to serve with CSM Dave Stewart in Germany. He was a soldier and leader without peer. Dave was the gold standard for the leadership by personal example that soldiers deserved every day. I will miss my friend.
I had the distinct pleasure of commanding the 2/28 Field Artillery Battalion with CSM David Stewart. He made us all better soldiers and for certain better men. Che' know that you brought him so much joy in the brief time you had together. I will miss him greatly.
I had the privilege of serving with CSM Stewart as a First Sergeant. He was a friend and mentor to all. Rest in peace.
I served under CSM Stewart in 2/28 FA and was his driver in 1985. I admired and respected this soldier. He was a great man and I am sorry I did not reconnect with him at the last battalion reunion. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
I am going to miss my friend who was one of the greatest soldiers and the best Command Sergeant Major I have ever met or known.
