Obituary of Goldie Emma Corley

Goldie Emma Corley, 101, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah, WV.  She was born April 5, 1917 in Lewis County, WV, a daughter of the late Isaac Jackson Norman and Cora Ann Allman Norman.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wilford Corley on November 28, 1967.

Mrs. Corley was a Methodist by faith.  She had previously worked as a school cook with the Marion County Board of Education where she served at the Farrow’s Run School.  Goldie was a farmer’s wife at heart, she enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing her own clothing, and crafts.  She loved camping with her children which often involved traveling.  She had visited over 40 of the 50 states.  At the age of 101, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by her children, Warren L. and his wife Jo Ann Corley of Rivesville, Loretta Duelley of Fairmont, and Donald R. and his wife Connie J. Corley of Buckhannon, WV, as well as her 11 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Howard Wayne Corley, her son-in-law, Charles Duelley, two of her great grandchildren, Cassandra Corley and Ashley Lorenzano, as well as her two brothers and her four sisters.

Friends and family may visit the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 2PM until 7PM and on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 11AM until 1PM.  The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1PM with Rev.
