Travis Martin

Obituary of Travis Frederick Martin

On July 13th, Travis Martin, husband, father, son and brother was received into the open arms of his Heavenly Father at the age of 36 years. Travis will forever be remembered by his wife and best friend of nine years Amy Martin, and their precious children Aaliyah Martin, Joey Shipp, and Ethan Shipp, by his parents Fred and Diane Martin, his brother Kyle Martin and wife Courtney and daughter Lyla, and his sister Shawna Brown with husband Ben. Travis will also be deeply remembered by his father and mother in law Joseph and Marilyn Bilpuh, brother and sister in law Paul and Kristen Gera and their children Andrew, Rachel, and Carson, as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends.

Travis was preceded in death and is currently wrapped in the loving arms of his grandparents Oliver and Joan Martin, and Clarence and Doris Perry.

Travis grew up in Fairmont, WV where he graduated from Fairmont Senior High School in 2000 and attended Zion Bible College shortly thereafter. When Travis married his beloved wife Amy in 2009, they settled in Morgantown, WV to raise their three children. With the love of working with his hands, instilled in him at a young age by his father, Travis started his own business called Green Blades Lawn and Landscape. The joy for what he did exuded from him and was evident to anyone who crossed his path. He took so much pride in what he did but what he truly loved most was working with people. The business he created allowed him to do both.

An avid traveler, pet enthusiast, and amateur photographer, Travis’ real and abiding passions were his faith and his family. Travis sought to instill in his children a zest for life, the ability to work hard, and the power of one’s relationship with Christ. Travis loved his family with his whole heart, but he loved his Savior even more. The family takes peace in knowing that he is finally reunited with his loving Heavenly Father.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in his memory to Animal Friends of North Central WV at animalfriendswv.org under the “help us” link.

A special celebration of life service will be held at Chestnut Ridge Church, 2223 Cheat Road, Morgantown, WV 26508, on Friday, July 20, 2018, at 6 p.m. The family will receive guests at the church for two hours prior to the memorial service from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. A private committal service will be held at a later date for the family. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.

The family asks that you spend time with your children, take a walk with your loved ones, and live a life reflecting that of our Savior Jesus Christ. That is what Travis would wish.
