Obituary of Gary Lee Poling
Gary Lee Poling, 75, of Rivesville, West Virginia died Thursday, May 24, 2018 in the Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born August 28, 1942 in Mill Creek, WV a son of the late Reverend Newton Poling & Clefta Oneida Cutright Poling. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Linda B. Poling of Rivesville, WV.
He is survived by a son and daughter in law Kevin & Janet Poling of Rivesville, WV, 2 daughters and 2 sons in law Andrea Poling & her husband Paul Gump of Hanover, PA and Amy & Terry Burton of Valdosta, GA, a brother David Poling of McCurdysville, WV, 4 sisters and their spouses Wanda & Skip Morris of Baxter, WV, Josielea Chapple of Culloden, WV, Mary & Peter Ingvoldstad of Jeffersonville, VT and Nedra & Bob Kusich of Fairview, WV, 7 grandchildren Kiera Poling, Amanda Poling, Sarah Burton, Douglas Poling, Alexandra Burton, Fletcher Gump & Nicholas Poling and many nieces & nephews.
Mr. Poling retired in 2004 as a bailiff for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, working for Judge David Janes and for the Marion County Family Court. He had previously worked from 1965-1970 as an electrician for R.C.A. with the Apollo Flights at Cape Canaveral, Florida, was a former deputy & detective for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department from 1971-1981 and was formerly employed as a coal miner for Consolidation Coal Co. at the Loverage Mine from 1981-1999. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a Radar Tech at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio. Gary was an avid farmer and member of the American Legion Post 17 in Fairmont, WV. He was a 1960 graduate of Smithfield High School in Wetzel County, WV.

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588 Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. and Sunday, May 27, 2018 from Noon-2 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
