Obituary of Richard "Rick" Thomas Shaver

Richard “Rick” Thomas Shaver, 70, of Fairmont passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Fairmont on December 7, 1955, a son of the late Denzil Shaver and Genevieve Phillips Shaver. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Mary Virginia “Ginny” Haught Shaver; daughters, Courtney Chaney and her husband Brandon of Kingwood and Emily Shaver of Fairmont; grandchildren, Gracelynn Hite, Thea Hite, and Samuel Chaney; siblings, Walter Shaver, Hugh Shaver, Newman Shaver, and Margaret Mundell and her husband Dusty; sister-in-law, Patty fox and her husband John; brother-in-law, Randy Haught and his wife Kim; and his beloved pet, Shilo. Rick graduated from Fairmont Senior High School and earned a bachelors degree from WVU in Mining and Mechanical Engineering. He was a lifelong learner who loved sports, WVU, the Steelers, the Pirates, and music. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public services at this time but the family does plan to hold a celebration of life at a later date.
