Obituary of Mary Kathryn Turek

Mary Kathryn Turek, 96, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah. She was born on September 19, 1929, a daughter of the late John Turek and Kathryn Mary Augustine Turek. Mary is survived by her niece, Karen Yost and her husband George, Carol Turek, and dear friend, Carol Shahan Hutson. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael, Edward, and Walter Turek; sister, Helen Tekieli; and nephews, John, Joseph, and Tom Turek. Mary was a graduate of Fairview High School and catholic by faith. She collected owls, enjoyed traveling with various travel clubs, and had a knack for writing letters. Mary worked for the Long Beach School System in Long Beach, CA prior to moving to Fairmont. In accordance with Mary’s wishes, there will be no public services.
