Obituary of Patricia Faye Staggers

Patricia Faye Staggers, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 4, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous and lengthy battle with ALS. She was 71. Born on May 14, 1955, in Mullens, West Virginia, Pat was the cherished daughter of the late Calvin and Rene Green. She spent her childhood in Pineville, where she developed the warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith that would define her throughout her life. Pat graduated from Bluefield College and built a successful career as an executive assistant, serving several coal companies throughout southern and central West Virginia. Above all else, Pat's greatest joy was her family. She shared 45 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Allen Staggers. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. She was a proud and loving mother to her daughters, Ashley (Nathaniel) Lee of Indianapolis and Kelsey (Phillip) of Charleston, and found immeasurable happiness in her treasured granddaughter, Aster, who brought endless light to her life. Pat is also survived by her sisters, Susan Green of Rock and Linda Uhl of Princeton, along with many extended family members and dear friends who were blessed by her kindness and generosity. A faithful member of LIFE Church and P.E.O. Chapter R, Pat lived a life rooted in service, compassion, and grace. Whether opening her home to family gatherings, offering encouragement to a friend, or quietly helping someone in need, she made everyone feel welcome and valued. She had a remarkable gift for bringing people together, and her home was often the heart of celebrations filled with love and lasting memories. Those who knew Pat will remember her gentle spirit, unwavering strength, infectious smile, and selfless devotion to those she loved. Even throughout her battle with ALS, she faced each day with courage, dignity, and an enduring faith that inspired everyone around her. The family extends its deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff of WV Caring Hospice—Scott, Amber, Kimmie, Kelly, Brittany, and Trudy—for the exceptional care, comfort, and kindness they provided. They also offer heartfelt thanks to Pat's devoted personal caregivers, Rebecca, Amanda, Paula, and Suzie, whose love, patience, and friendship meant so much during her journey. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, Pat's legacy of love, generosity, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to WV Caring Hospice or the ALS Foundation in honor of Patricia Faye Staggers. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. A service to celebrate Pat's life will be held at a later date.
