Obituary of Judy Yvonne Chandler

Judy Yvonne Chandler, 82, of Barrackville, WV, passed away peacefully at her daughter Yvonne’s home in Monumental, surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. She was born on March 3, 1944 in Idamay, WV, the daughter of the late Frank H. Fitzhugh and Russell Glen and Janice E. Renolds Bland. Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 17 years in 1981, James P. Chandler. Judy attended Mannington High School and Farmington High School. After high school, she graduated from the Clarksburg Beauty Academy. Judy was a faithful member of the Willow Tree Baptist Church and enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved bowling in various leagues at Valley Lanes in Fairmont, watching any type of sporting event, especially if her children or grandchildren were playing, and cheering on WVU and the Pittsburgh Pirates. She also enjoyed camping, where she was known to visit her favorite camp, Mt. Storm. Judy found her greatest enjoyment by spending precious time with her friends and family. Judy is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Hawkins and her husband Jack of Monumental, WV, son, James Glenn Chandler and his wife Donna of Francis Run Mine Road Community, WV, grandchildren, Jessica, Billy, James Paul “JP”, Cecelia, Crystal, Jeff, and Myla, and their spouses, twelve great grandchildren, sisters, Jacqueline Smith of Fairmont, Agnes Longstreth and her husband Bob of Farmington, WV, Joyce Brummitt and her husband Terry of Ohio, and Sandy Wagner of Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Fitzhugh and his wife Margaret, and sisters, Elanore Sutter, Carol Holland, and Linda Fitzhugh. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends will be received on Monday, June 22, 2026 from 10 am until 2 pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 2 pm with Pastor David Knotts officiating. A service of committal will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Fairmont.
