Obituary of Eugenia F. Bombardiere

Eugenia F. Bombardiere, 92, of Bridgeport, West Virginia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Born on August 4, 1933, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, Eugenia was the daughter of the late Troy and Margaret Trusler Bennett. She lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, service to her community, and unwavering love for those around her. Eugenia is survived by her four sons: Nick Bombardiere of Bridgeport; Salvatore “Sal” Bombardiere of Clarksburg; Mark Bombardiere and his wife, Paula, of Clarksburg; and Mario Bombardiere and his wife, Tricia, of Bridgeport, with whom she made her home. She is also survived by her daughter, Margaret Ann Walter and her husband, Mitchell, of Morgantown. She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: Crystal, Nicholas, Alex, Thatcher, Sal, Jocelyn, T.J., Christopher, Zach, and Alexis Bombardiere; Autumn Williams, Bridget Fulkner, Marie Scharnhorst, Donna Moretti, Carrie Cumberlege, and Casi Warner. Her family was further blessed by 20 great-grandchildren, along with several beloved nieces and nephews. A proud graduate of Washington Irving High School’s Class of 1951, Eugenia embodied determination and resilience throughout her life. Never one to sit still, she pursued her LPN education while raising her family and worked diligently in a variety of roles throughout her career. She served her community through her work with the Harrison County Health Department and Bi-County Nutrition and was employed by Sam’s Club and Walmart before retiring from Union Carbide. Her strong work ethic and tireless energy were an inspiration to all who knew her. Community involvement was one of Eugenia’s greatest passions. She dedicated countless hours to organizations that enriched the lives of others. She was a faithful member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 45 years, VFW Auxiliary Post 573, the Eagles Auxiliary, the Red Hatters of Clarksburg, and Union 3276 Oil and Chemical Retirees. She proudly served as a past president of the Democratic Women’s Club and was an active member of the beloved Sisters Act, also known as the Singing Nuns. She enjoyed bowling with the Sigma 7 League and the Compton Coffee Breakers League at Compton Bowling Lanes in Clarksburg and generously gave her time as secretary of the East View Senior Bingo Group. She also raised money for the honor flight. Above all else, Eugenia’s greatest love was her family. She was the heart of every gathering, the loudest cheerleader, and the strongest supporter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. An avid sports fan, she especially loved football and was a devoted supporter of both the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Bridgeport Indians. Some of her happiest moments were spent watching her grandchildren compete on the field, court, or stage. Whether under the Friday night lights at the football stadium or in a crowded school gymnasium, Eugenia could always be found proudly cheering on the people she loved most. Those who knew Eugenia will remember her for her infectious energy, her generous spirit, her quick smile, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. She lived a life rich in friendships, service, and family, leaving behind countless memories that will be treasured for generations. In addition to her parents, Eugenia was preceded in death by her brothers, John Bennett and Jack Bennett; her sister-in-law, Judy Bennett; and her former husband of 25 years, Dominick Bombardiere. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the lessons she taught, the love she shared, and the example she set will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on through the family she adored and the community she helped build. "A life well lived leaves a lasting imprint on the hearts of others. Pike St. Clarksburg, WV 2630. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. Friends will be received on Monday, June 15, 2026 from 2pm until 4pm and from 6pm until 8pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 10am until 11am. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11am with Pastor Rodney Kittle officiating. A service of committal will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
