Obituary of Sally Ann Morrison

Sally Ann Morrison, affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, Mamaw, and Boo Boo, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026. Born on September 3, 1930, to Virginia “Jean” Neptune, Sally was raised by John and Grace Harker, whose love and guidance helped shape the remarkable woman she became. Sally grew up in the Westchester area and as a young girl, she delighted audiences with roller-skating performances, even if they requested a show or not. She attended Fairmont Senior High School, where she proudly served as a majorette. Despite being a Polar Bear, Sally easily converted, cheering on the Bees at East Fairmont sporting events especially during her children’s high school years. Sally had a lifelong love of dancing and never missed an opportunity to enjoy music and to cut a rug even towards the end. When her children were in high school, she happily volunteered as a dance chaperone, combining her love of dancing with her devotion to family and community. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren can attest that she gave the best back scratches! And she loved doting on them. On December 16, 1950, Sally married Roy Dean Morrison. Together they shared a devoted marriage filled with adventure and cherished memories. They loved to travel and spent countless days exploring the country in their camper. Big Bear Lake became a special gathering place where family and friends created memories that would last a lifetime. Every winter, Sally looked forward to spending time in Florida, especially in Daytona Beach. Her travels also took her abroad, including memorable trips to Denmark, England, France, and Spain, where she and Roy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Sally was a woman of faith. She was an active member of Diamond Street United Methodist Church where she participated in the ladies’ group and especially enjoyed helping prepare and serve church dinners. In the late 1970s, while attending a Bible study, Sally accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a decision that impacted the rest of her life. She was also an enthusiastic sports fan who loved cheering for WVU and NASCAR. Whether watching a game, gathering with family, traveling to a new destination, or serving her church, Sally approached life with dedication, sacrifice, and a good spaghetti dinner. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Harmony Assisted Living for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Sally during the last four years of her life. Special thanks are extended to Liz, Debbie, Barb, and Kelly, whose compassion, attentiveness, and friendship brought comfort and reassurance to both Sally and her family. Sally’s legacy is one of faith, love, service, and family. She will be remembered for her feisty character, her devotion to those she loved and the countless memories she created with family and friends. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her example and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Sally is survived by her children, Debra Ebert (Michael) of Fairmont, WV, Janie Skinner (Michael) of Jacksonville, FL, and RD Morrison (Cathy) of Fairmont, WV. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michael (Emily) Ebert, Jonathan Ebert, Elizabeth Ebert, Julie (Pete) Ramsey, Jodie (Steve) Sanders, Jaime (Todd) Bowermaster, Jenni Morrison, Matt (Kirsten) Morrison, and eleven great-grandchildren, Owen, Adalynn, Hannah, Ava, Jacob, John, William, Ryleigh, Baylee, Kane, and Kolt. Sally is proceeded in death by her husband Roy Dean Morrison, her mother Virginia Neptune, her family who raised her John and Grace Harker, and Roy’s parents Dean and Velma Morrison who she was very close with throughout their time together. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. All services will be private for the family with private interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
