Obituary of Judy Ann McVicker

Judy Ann McVicker, 81, of Morgantown, formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born January 24, 1945 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Stanley E. and Ruth Ann Smith Lemley. She is survived by her loving husband, Gerald “Jerry” M. McVicker. Judy was a Methodist by faith and a 1963 graduate of East Fairmont High School. She retired in 2005 from Westinghouse/ Philips Lighting where she worked for 33 years in the glass plant, lamp plant, and seal beam departments. Judy was a dedicated mother and grandmother; she was highly involved in all of her family members’ activities. She never missed any event they were involved in including, education, sporting, school, and military events. She loved shopping and her family joked she was a “professional shopper”. She enjoyed traveling when she was able, especially to Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, and many NASCAR races. Judy loved her weekly hair and nail appointments, and visiting with her “glam-squad”. In addition to her husband, Judy is survived by her children: Gerald E. “Little Jerry” McVicker of Morgantown, and Heather and her husband Brian Thayer of Morgantown. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Conar L McVicker, Elyse L. McVicker, Ian James Thayer, and Willow Dawn Thayer, her daughter-in-law Kristie McVicker, and her brother Charles “Chuck” and his wife Debbie Lemley of Morgantown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice F. Lemley Smith and her husband Kenneth Smith. Memorial donations may be made to the Betty Puskar Breast Care Enhancement Fund, WVU Medicine, 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends and family may visit on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 2PM until 4PM and from 6PM until 8PM, and again on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11AM with Reverend Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV.
