William Walker Jr.

Obituary of William Dale Walker Jr.

It is with profound sadness that the family of William Dale Walker Jr., Bub or Pap to those who knew and loved him, shares the news of his passing on May 27, 2026. Bub’s life’s work—and his greatest joy—was the family he built. The proud father of three wonderful daughters, seven beloved grandchildren, and a treasured great-granddaughter, Bub never missed an opportunity to take a carful of his grandkids on a breakfast date with his friends at The Broken Egg or to sport the baseball cap of a grandchild’s alma mater. He continued this devoted rotation until the very end of his life, a testament to his pride and the care he took to show his loved ones how he felt about them. Bub’s voice could be heard in the stands of so many soccer games in Fairmont. Bub’s hands made so many of his famous pepperoni rolls and peanut butter fudge. Bub’s love was so fierce for his family. The legacy of the love Bub unceasingly gave carries on in those who had the joy of being closest to him. While Bub’s family celebrates a life well lived and the rejoining of Bub and his darling wife Sue, they mourn the loss of their deeply loved patriarch. They’ll miss the lunch dates and conversations; they’ll miss being encouraged to try a bite of something Bub made just for them; they’ll miss the feeling of endless support and stability he provided. Bub is predeceased by his parents Roxie and William Dale Sr.; his wife Vonda Sue; his son-in-law Mike; and his siblings Bill, Jim, and Mary. He is survived by his daughters Terri, Tina, and Traci (Joe); his grandchildren Ryleigh (Joe), Brooks (Ciara), Joey, Nick, Ivey (DJ), Sophie, and Carly; his great-granddaughter Sylvie; his siblings Bonnie and John; and his two step grandsons Joe (Danielle) and Ryan (Brandi). Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 265554. Bub’s family will be holding a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, they ask that you donate to the Vonda Walker 4-H Memorial Fund at Fairmont Federal Credit Union, which provides scholarships to young people so that they can experience the magic of 4-H. 4-H brought Bub and Sue together, and the family wants to continue that tradition.
