Obituary of Sarah Elizabeth "Sally" Davis

Sarah Elizabeth “Sally” Davis, 84, of Elkins and formerly of Fairmont, peacefully passed away at Mountain Memories Assisted Living in Elkins, WV on Friday, May 15, 2026. She was born in Fairmont, WV on January 30, 1942, the daughter to the late Robert Gross and Mary Elizabeth Mittendorf Davis. She is survived by her brother, George Davis (Carolyn), her niece, Georgann Davis (Sue), her nephews, Charles Davis (Tani), Robert Davis, and Morgan Davis (Shelly). Sarah is also survived by great nieces, great-great nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Davis. Sarah was a retired teacher for the Mansfield City Schools with 30 years of dedicated service from 1963 until 1993. She graduated from East Fairmont High School as a member of the class of 1959, graduated from West Virginia University in 1963, and obtained her master's degree at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. Sarah was an active member of the Baptist Temple in Fairmont for many years. Memorial donations may be made in Sarah’s memory to the Baptist Temple at 430 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mountain Memories Assisted Living’s staff for their excellent care of Sarah. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont WV 26554. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 10a.m. until 12 noon. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12 noon with Reverend Dr. Allan Copenhaver as celebrant. Graveside services will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV.
