Obituary of Susan Louise (Cooper) Brubaker
Susan Louise “Suzie” (Cooper) Brubaker, 73, of Fairmont, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Webster Springs, WV on December 28, 1952, a daughter to the late Lloyd Herschel and Elma Louise Ware Cooper. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Arthur Brubaker.
In addition to her husband, Susan (“Suzie”) is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Jon) Fleeman of Fairmont, and Lori (Gary) Hefner of Hanover, PA. Susan is also survived by her step-son, Eric Brubaker of Fairmont, her grandchildren, Evan Fleeman and Justin Hefner, her sister, Kim (Rick) Efaw of Fairmont, and two nephews, Ricky and Tyler Efaw, who meant the world to her.
Suzie was a creative and talented floral designer for 47 years and truly loved creating beautiful arrangements. Floral design was not only her career, but her passion. She worked at World of Plants and Flowers and East Side Florist, where she shared her creativity and touched the lives of many through her work. One of her floral arrangements was even featured in a magazine, a reflection of her talent and dedication to her craft. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons who brought so much joy and meaning to her life.
In addition to her parents, Suzie was preceded in death by her beloved nephew, Shane Efaw, who held a very special place in her heart.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the MICU staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital for their professional and compassionate care.
The family has requested memorial donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) at 2451 Crystal Dr, Ste 900, Arlington, VA 22202-4804.
