Obituary of Robert "Bobby" D. Cutright, Jr.
Robert “Bobby” D. Cutright Jr. of Citrus Heights, California left this world suddenly on April 20, 2026 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Riding was in Bobby’s blood — a passion sparked at a very young age that rode with him every day of his life. Bobby was born December 21, 1969, in Fairmont, WV to Robert D. Cutright and Joyce Yvonne (Merrill) Cutright. Bobby is survived by his son, Kyle Robert Cutright of Citrus Heights, California, his sister and brother-in-law Denise and Scott Swiger, nephews Zachary (Darlena) Swiger, Isaac (Gianna) Swiger, all of Fairmont, WV, and his close aunt, Debbie (Billy) Keener of Rivesville, WV.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife Tula Petridou whom he loved deeply. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Sylvia Morris, and paternal grandparents William and Helen Cutright.
Bobby enlisted in the military when he was 19 years old serving in Korea from 1990-91, specializing in Telecommunications. He was stationed in Killeen, TX from 1991–94, where he lived with his first wife, Lisa Summers Hymes. He remained in the military reserves as part of the 459th Bridging Unit from Clarksburg, WV. He was deployed to Kuwait with the 459th Bridging Unit in 2003, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He finished his career in the military as an SFC E7. His awards and acknowledgments include Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (3rd award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device, Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 2, and Army Service Ribbon.
Bobby earned a degree in Information Technology in 1998 and worked for WVU Medicine (formerly WVU Hospitals) and Mylan Pharmaceuticals during his career.
Bobby loved working on and riding motorcycles, a love he described in a story he wrote as beginning in 1975, at the age of five, when his dad took him for a ride on his new Honda CB 550 Four. He sat on the gas tank, held on to the handlebars and was in charge of the horn. This was a feeling he never forgot.
While living in California, he rode countless miles exploring the state’s iconic coastline and mountains, and made the 5,000-mile round trip to West Virginia and back not once, but twice. Weekend trips to San Francisco were frequent. He belonged to the River City Beemers Motorcycle Club in Sacramento and the BMW Club of Northern California.
Bobby volunteered his time and services to the International House in Davis, California teaching English as a second language.
Bobby was a devoted father, a loving brother and a friend to everyone he met, leaving lasting impressions wherever he went with his warmth, his humor, and gift for conversation that made strangers feel like old friends. We will miss his contagious laugh, his sincere hugs and his kind heart.
Family and friends are invited to his Military Honors Service which has been planned for Monday, May 18, 2026 at 11A.M. at the WV National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Lane, Grafton, WV.
Bobby’s final resting place will be the San Francisco National Cemetery, alongside his beloved Tula.
