Obituary of Theresa P. Bracken

Theresa P. Bracken, 85, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away at home on Thursday, March 5, 2026. She was born on August 9, 1940 in War, WV, the daughter of the late William and Agnes Yergovich Povlich. Theresa was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years in June of 2017, Coulter Reid Bracken. Theresa is survived by her three children and four grandchildren, William Reid and wife Rozanna of Charleston, WV, and their sons William Reid and Luke Thomas; Mary Sue and her husband Thomas Harwood of Herndon, VA; and Coulter Michael and his wife Vicki of Bridgeport, WV, and their sons Coulter Alexander and Justin Reedy and his wife Kelli of Bruceton Mills, WV. She is also survived by her sisters, Christine Perkins of Leonardtown, MD, and Eva Levy of Cambridge, MD, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Sam Perkins and Sam Bracken. Theresa was a Catholic by faith and a proud graduate of Gary High School and attended West Virginia University. She was also a member of the General Federation Women’s Club and CEO Homemakers Club in Bridgeport. Theresa was a devout reader and could be found volunteering at the Bridgeport Library. When she was not reading or volunteering, Theresa enjoyed gardening, planting, and spending precious time with her family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made in Theresa’s memory to the Harrison County Humane Society, P.O. Box 4397, Clarksburg, WV 26302, or to the Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter, 1601 2nd Avenue, Charleston, WV 25387. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. Friends will be received on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 10 am until 1 pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1pm with Reverend James T. Lang presiding. A private interment will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, WV.
