Obituary of Lucy “Irene” Beckner

Lucy “Irene” Beckner, 85, of Fairmont passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2026, after a long illness. She was born on September 15, 1940, to LeRoy Hayhurst and Evelyn Lindsay Hayhurst of Lumberport. She was married to Charles William “Charlie” “Bill” Beckner on February 13, 1960. Together, they raised seven children, Jayne Marie Beckner, Carol Lee Beckner Ianizelli Silva, Alice Joy Beckner, Charles W. “Bill” Beckner II and his wife Debbie Hull, Barbara Lynn Beckner Tenney and her husband Jim, Teresa “Ann” Beckner Corwin and Jay Prendergast, and Patricia “Pat” Irene Beckner Robinson. She was also survived by several grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; her sister, Susan Hayhurst Wilson of Hastings, FL; and brother, Ronnie Hayhurst and his wife Kathleen of Janesville, WI. Irene was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Jayne Marie Beckner; grandson, Brian Silva; brothers, Robert “Bobbie” Hayhurst, Richard “Ricky” Hayhurst, and Paul Hayhurst; as well as sister, Virginia Frances Hayhurst Henderson. Irene worked at 3 Ways Inn in the 1960’s and at Westinghouse for 10 years. She was a member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church and loved everyone she met with unconditional love and respect. Irene babysat her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved doing it for years after she retired. The family would like to thank WVU Hospice for their loving care and support. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Jackie Chambers officiating.
