Obituary of Juanita Nicole Wilshire

Juanita Nicole Cook Wilshire, 48, of Independence, WV, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born May 27, 1977 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of Linda Saunders Cook and the late Russell Dobbs Cook. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Thomas Fleming Wilshire. Nicole was raised in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Fairmont. She was a 1996 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, as well as Waynesburg College with her Bachelor of Science Registered Nursing degree. She had been a homemaker in her own home for over 15years, but had previously worked as a registered nurse with WVU Hospitals and later Grafton City Hospital. Nicole was an avid puzzler, reader, and a skilled seamstress having made many blankets, quilts, and dresses over the years. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren. When she was healthier, she enjoyed lifting weights and attending the gym. In addition to her husband and mother, Nicole is survived by her children, Chris Reester, Dane Wilshire, and Julian Wilshire all of Morgantown, her step-daughter, Sydney Wilshire and her companion Wes Brinegar, her grandchildren Lillian Mya Dawn Reester, Riley Madison Reester, and Owen Brinegar. As well as, her maternal grandmother, Mamie Saunders, her brothers, David and Tiana Cook, her twin Jonathan and Rachel Cook, and her sister Lynette Dawn and Chris Metzger, her mother-in-law, Carolyn Wilshire, and her sisters-in-law, Rosemary Wilshire and her husband Nick Rachella, and Genne Howell. In addition to her father, Nicole is preceded in death by father-in-law, Tom Wilshire, and her brothers-in-law, Donnie Morgan and Matt Howell. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. Friends and family may visit the funeral home on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 2PM until 7PM.
