Obituary of Michael Lee Little, Sr.
Michael Lee Little, Sr., aged 68, of Penhook, Virginia, and formerly of Fairmont, West Virginia, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, on January 23, 2026. He passed away at home, surrounded by his loving wife, Shirley Ann (Daniels) Little, and devoted family, following an extended illness. Michael was born on May 15, 1957, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to the late Albert Lee White, Sr. and Billie Jo Little.
Michael Lee Little, Sr. graduated from Barrackville High School in 1976, where he was a proud member of the Barrackville Bison basketball team. After completing his studies, Michael relocated to Vallejo, California to live with his father, Pastor Albert Lee White Sr. Inspired by his father's dedication, Michael embarked on his own journey in ministry at Shiloh Church of God In Christ (COGIC). There, he faithfully served as both a deacon and an elder, following in his father’s footsteps and deepening his commitment to his faith.
Michael’s life was one of service, faith, and leadership. His devotion to God was unwavering, and he dedicated himself to knowing, loving, and serving the Lord. His strong faith and compassionate heart earned him the role of California Western Ecclesiastical Jurisdictional Evangelist in Vallejo, California. He was respected not only for his spiritual leadership, but also for his genuine care for people. His love for God and others was evident in his daily life, and he was highly regarded throughout the community.
Professionally, Michael held a supervisory position at Erickson, Inc. and worked as a field agent with Combined Insurance Company. In these roles, he excelled at guiding and supporting others, earning admiration as a capable and caring leader.
In 2004, Michael returned to Fairmont, West Virginia, where he continued his pastoral work. He led the Church of the Brethren of Pleasant Hill in Fairmont, WV and Good Hope Baptist Church in Barrackville, WV, providing spiritual guidance and fostering strong relationships within both congregations. For several years, Michael and his beloved wife, Shirley, were members of Covenant Church under the leadership of Pastor Josh Morgan. Together, they nurtured a deep spiritual bond with the Covenant Church community, building lasting connections and strengthening their faith.
In his most recent chapter of ministry and service in Virginia, Michael served with distinction as the Pastor of Penhook Fellowship Church in Penhook, VA. He also extended his leadership and compassion to the academic community, serving as the Chaplain at Ferrum College in Ferrum, VA. His impact on the lives of students, faculty, and his congregation was a testament to his lifelong calling.
Michael and Shirley’s love and partnership were a cornerstone of his life. They were united in marriage in 2004, and in December 2025, the couple joyfully celebrated 21 years together, a testament to their enduring commitment and shared faith.
In addition to his loving wife, Shirley Ann, Michael is survived by several children from a previous marriage. These include his son, Tyrone Echols of Vallejo, California, his daughter, Grace Little of Vallejo, California, and he is also remembered by the loss of his son, Michael Little, Jr. Michael’s beloved mother, Billie Jo Little Moss, also survives him and remains a cherished part of his family. Alongside the children from his former marriage, Michael fully embraced the three children whom his wife, Shirley, brought into their union from a previous marriage. These are Damita Borden Jones and her husband James, Melvin Borden, and Dana Borden Johnson and her husband Shawn. Their blended family was a source of love, unity, and support throughout Michael's life, reflecting the strength and warmth that defined their relationships.
Michael is also survived by a large and loving extended family. He is remembered by his brothers: Gordy Little, Jamie Little, Rodney Little, Marcus White, Albert White, Jr., Robert White and his wife Lisa, Rory White, Damien White, Linzo “Buster” White and his wife Ku’Shaye, Nathaniel White, Tim Simmons, and Keith Simmons. His sisters include Antonette “Toni” Little, Diane Little King, Sharisse White Baker, Karen Waters and her husband Warnell, Elisha White, and Yolanda Dawan. Each family member contributed to the rich tapestry of Michael’s life, providing support and companionship throughout his journey.
Arrangements for Michael Lee Little, Sr. have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, located at 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, West Virginia. Friends will be received at Covenant Church, 17 Everlasting Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554, on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 9 am until 11 am. The funeral service will be held in the church on Friday at 11 am with Pastor Josh Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
