Obituary of Gladys "Jody" Ellen (Brooks) Morrison
Gladys “Jody” Ellen (Brooks) Morrison, 65, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 29, 2026. She was born on July 23, 1960 in Webster Springs, WV, the daughter of the late Arlie “Net” Ardings and Anna Jean Clark Brooks. Gladys was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2022, Richard Dale “Dick” Morrison.
Gladys was the owner and operator of Cherokee Catering. She was a graduate of Webster High School and Florida State University. She enjoyed cooking, camping, beach trips, and masonry work with her husband. Gladys was a Pittsburgh Steelers football fan and enjoyed volunteering her time as a member of the White Hall Lioness Club, along with volunteering in public schools. Most of all, Gladys enjoyed spending time surrounded by her close friends and family
Gladys is survived by her daughters, Lisa Collins, and Heather Morrison and her husband Christopher Davis, both of Fairmont, cherished grandsons, Zachary Collins and his wife Natalya, and Matthew Collins and his wife Hanna, two great-grandchildren, Ryot and Raiden, and another great-grandchild on the way, Carrie Collins, her siblings, Herbie Brooks of Webster Springs, Penny Hamilton of Ohio, her sisters-in-law, Rose Cutlip, and Cathy Brooks of Sutton, numerous loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends, as well as two special grand-pups, Sprocket and Hufflepuff.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her brother, Charlie Brooks.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with Gladys’s wishes, cremation services will occur. Friends will be received on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 11a.m. until 2p.m. A celebration of life service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 2p.m. with Pastor Scott Cutlip officiating.
