Obituary of Charles "Chuck" Richard Prenatt, Jr.

Charles “Chuck” Richard Prenatt, Jr., 76, of Fairmont, passed away at home on January 14, 2026. He was born on September 11, 1949 in North Apollo, PA, the son of the late Charles R. and Marian R. Basinger Prenatt. Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife in 2016, Rev. Cheryl “Cheri” L. Prenatt. Chuck had eleven brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. LaRea Staub, her family: Elizabeth and Jonas Hedsund: Emily, Sofia; John-Michael, Mark, Erik, Lucia. Robert and Lynne Prenatt, their children: Rebecca Mertz and Marybeth Bourke: Frances. Evelyn Prenatt, James Prenatt: Quentin, Lorelel. Dahlia, Georginna, Samuel, Celine. Jospeh and Deanna Prenatt, their children: Michael, Stephen. Joan Watson, her children: Richard and Jennie Watson: Benji, Teddy, Emmie. Irvina and Vladimir Gil Watson: Roman Bush, Immanuel, Charles, Ciana, Isabel. Mary and Randy Knuth, her children, Charles, Jenny and Nate Parella: Xavier Dillinger, Gavin Dillinger, Elora Dillinger. Carol and William Stevens, their children: Nicole, Lydia Eva, William. William Prenatt and Natali Amaradasa their children: Eva Prenatt, Mirna Dharmadasa, Sasha Dharmasada, Lucas. David and Debra Prenatt, her children: Christopher and Tina Nguyen-Ness: Emma, Jackson, Amanda and Shawn Lewis, Kaitlyn Nesselhauf, Eric and Cassandra Nesselhauf. Chuck married the love of his life, Cheryl (Cheri) Stewart in 1975. They were married for forty beautiful years. They had wonderful children. Aaron Prenatt, Amy Prenatt-Michaux. He is survived by his sister law; Cassandra (Sandi) and Bill Wagner their children: Jordan, Max, Olivia. Chuck was born in North Apollo, PA. Later his family moved to Indiana, PA. He served in the US Army for two years, stationed in Germany. He moved to Fairmont, WV and worked for Hills Department Store for thirteen years. He worked as a letter carrier for the Post Office for twenty- five years and retired in 2013. Chuck’s creative hobbies were stained glass, gardening, and building. He built many puppet stages. He wrote two puppet shows for his family’s Christmas Eve celebration. Twenty years ago, he developed and built a home in White Hall, WV, where they lived for many years. After Cheri’s passing, he was a Volunteer Chaplain at United Hospital Center. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with Chuck’s wishes, cremation services will occur. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 12 Noon with Mr. David Prenatt officiating.
