David “Tyke” Bodkin, born May 20, 1948, passed away on January 14 at the Fairmont Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by family and friends. Tyke was the beloved son of the late Belva Bodkin and the devoted husband of the late Julie Esultante Bodkin, the love of his life. Tyke and Julie shared 46 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, adventure, and deep companionship. A proud graduate of Parsons High School in Parsons, West Virginia, Class of 1966, Tyke was an accomplished student-athlete. He lettered in baseball, football, and basketball, and was also a dedicated member of the school band. He went on to graduate from Fairmont State College, earning a degree in engineering. Tyke enjoyed a successful career as an engineer, working for several prominent firms including Stone & Webster, Bechtel, and Fluor Engineering. His work took him to many states across the country, and he and Julie embraced the opportunity to travel and experience new places together. In his free time, Tyke loved golfing, hunting, and traveling. He was well known for his warm personality and strong friendships, and he was deeply loved by his many friends, all of whom will miss him tremendously. Tyke’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and friendship will be remembered always by those who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Roy Weese officiating.
