Obituary of Robert "Bob" Lee Casto
Robert “Bob” Lee Casto, 71, of White Hall passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at his home. He was born in Clarksburg on November 19, 1954, son of the late Bobby Lee Casto and Ruby Eleanor Mathews Casto.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Holly Kay Besedich Casto; children, Travis Casto of Fairmont, Bobbi Jean Tidd and her husband Jeff of Bridgeport, and Trent Casto of Fairmont and his partner Lyndsey Brown; his precious granddaughters, Clara and Roslyn Tidd; brother-in-law, Michael Besedich; sisters-in-law, Tina Mohr and her husband Scott, Joyce Cale and her husband Tom, and Suella Taylor. Bob is also survived by many nephews, one niece, coworkers, and neighbors. Bob also is survived by his three grand dogs that he loved dearly, Marlo, Harper, and Virgie.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Taylor; in-laws, Daniel and Gloria Jean Besedich; brothers-in-law, Matt Besedich and Daniel Besedich; and a nephew, Colby Besedich.
Bob lettered in both football and baseball, playing varsity at Roosevelt Wilson High School. He was all county in football for Harrison County, playing defensive tackle and received a football scholarship to Fairmont State College. At Fairmont State, Bob was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and obtained an associates degree. Bob worked for 38 years for the Kroger Company, as a night manager at the Fairmont store, and as a department head at the Clarksburg store. His job at Kroger was more than employment, he considered it a ministry. Bob volunteered, helping coworkers and elderly customers with their computers. He donated to families who were on strike and supported them with food donations and anything that would help. Bob played babe ruth baseball, tried out for the Pittsburgh Pirates as a first baseman, and played men’s softball. He coached for Miller Jr. High School football, Marion County B Ball, and refereed Marion County girls’ softball. He was a member of the North Central Parkinson’s Support Group and Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson’s Therapy. Bob completed and was certified in Big and Loud Physical Therapy for Parkinson’s. Bob was a practicing Christian and lived as a disciple of Christ. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was fiercely proud and devoted. Bob never missed a game or practice and pushed the importance of a good education to his three children.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Bob’s memory to the North Central Parkinson’s Support Group.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 12 noon. A committal service will follow at Clermont Cemetery.
