Obituary of Richard L. Woody
Richard L. Woody, 92, of Fairmont, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 20, 2025 with friends and family by his side. He was born April 22, 1933 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Delmer Lee and Vera Fay Mealey Woody. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kuroski Woody.
Richard was a Protestant by faith. He was a proud veteran with the United States Marine Corps having served during the Korean War. He retired from Sharon Steel in Fairmont where he was a welder for over 26 years, as well as a security guard for an additional 10 years. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #7048. Over the last 50 years, Richard enjoyed his camp at Tygart Lake in “Wild Cat Holler”. He loved “going to camp” every week with his wife Dorothy, where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Richard is survived by several nieces and nephews, and his beloved canine companion, Daisy.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Mark Woody, and his siblings: Warren J. Woody, Judy Phillips, Genevieve Stewart, and Mary Frances Ice.
The family would like to thank his friends, neighbors, and caregivers, Kelly and Rick Rice for all the special attention they provided Richard. Special thank you goes to his V.A. Hospital nurse, “Princess” Diana Williams, as well to his Amedisys Hospice nurses, Angie, Brenda, and Katelyn.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with his wishes, cremation services will take place and private graveside services will be held at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
