Obituary of Linda J. Kisner Stoops

Linda J. Kisner Stoops, 75, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at the Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, WV. She was born on December 22, 1949 in Fairmont, the daughter of the late George E. and Jane Grace Simpson Kisner. Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2018, Don R. Stoops. She was a proud 1967 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and a 1971 graduate of Fairmont State College. Linda was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Fairmont, where she served on various church committees, choir, and bell choir. She formerly worked as a legal secretary at Furbee, Amos, Webb, and Critchfield Law Firm, until retiring at Spilman, Thomas, and Battle Law Firm in Morgantown. Linda was also a member of the Rock Lake Club in Fairmont. Linda is survived by her brother John Kisner and his wife Patty of Grafton, WV, nieces and nephews, David Kisner, Jennifer Summers and her husband Jamen, Crystal Crane, and Bobby Wolfe, several cousins, and great nieces and nephews, and special friends, Butch Kisner, Brian Toothman, and Patty Thompson. Memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s memory to the Marion County Humane Society, 2731 Locust Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554 or the First Presbyterian Church, 301 Jackson Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 3 pm until 8 pm and again on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 10 am until 11 am. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 am with Reverend Brad Bennett officiating. A service of committal will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery & Mausoleum.
