Steven Hall

Obituary of Steven Louis Hall

Steven Louis Hall, 74, of Bridgeport, West Virginia, passed away on November 22, 2025. He was a beloved husband, proud “Poppy”, brother, uncle, friend, and cherished member of the community whose kindness and hard work touched countless lives. Steve graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1974 and went on to build a distinguished career with Federal Express, where he dedicated 35 years of service. Known for his exceptional work ethic and professionalism, Steve earned numerous awards and the respect of colleagues throughout his career. After retiring, Steve continued doing what he loved—working with people. He found joy and purpose in his roles at NAPA, Fishers Auto and Stutler MotorSports where he was more than an employee; he was part of a family. He treasured the friendships he built and the sense of community these roles brought him. Steve was known for his sense of humor, generosity, and unwavering integrity. He had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and later in life, he enjoyed fishing, reflecting his easy-going nature. He was the “fun uncle,” a big kid at heart who loved playing video games with his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. His stories were legendary, told with a humor that sparked his contagious laugh and made his face light up with joy. His love for dogs was undeniable—they always had the best seat in the house, and only the finest treats could reclaim his recliner. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Hall; his beloved granddaughter, Aeris (“Pickle”), brother-in-law, Michael Taylor and siblings Katherine Bushell (and husband Dave), Richard Hall (and wife Debbie), Sheila O’Brien (and husband Mike), Phyllis Hunt; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Steve will also leave behind his best friend, Cary Means, and his wife, Patte Means, whom he considered to be a brother and sister. Cary and Steve were affectionately known as “Tugg” and “Minnow”. Cary spent many patient hours trying to teach Steve how to be handy. Carey would often take on volunteer repair jobs for neighbors and would take Steve along to assist; however, Cary would now admit that he took him along for comic relief. Steve was a happy-go-lucky soul, adored by family and friends for his kindness and gentle heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In honor of Steve’s wishes, a formal memorial service will not be held. He requested that his ashes be spread at Smith Mountain Lake, the site of many happy family reunions. It is his wife’s request that all who loved him take a moment to reflect on a time that Steve made you laugh. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 E. Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330. In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremations services will occur. There will be no public services.
