Obituary of Lily Yikhui Chen Shan

Lily Yikhui Chen Shan, 94, of Fairmont, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025. She was born in Xiamen, Fujian, China on June 16, 1931, a daughter to the late Bi Qing Wong and Hui Yu Cui. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kuocheng Shan. She is survived by her son, Tony D. Shan, of Seattle WA, her brother Steven Wong and his wife Maggie of Hong Kong, China, her sister You Hui Wong, several nieces and nephews, including Christina Wong, Michael Wong, and Larry W. Xiong, her best friend, Theresa Young, and Dr. Peter L. Ang, who was her devoted friend. In addition to her parents and husband, Lily was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Lily retired from Fairmont State College as a Professor in the Biology Department. She started as a part-time instructor in 1973 and became a full-time Professor in 1988. She was a graduate of the University of the Philippines, achieved her Master's from Wellesley College in Boston, Massachusetts, and her Ph.D. from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Lily was also a member of the A.C.P.W.V. Lily's family express gratitude and appreciation for the many caregivers who looked after her and her late husband in their final days. Extra special thanks go to Louise Humphreys and Anna Haught for their dedication. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554.
