Obituary of Margaret Ann Mayo (Woods)

Margaret Ann Mayo (Woods), 93, of Bridgeport, WV passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025. She was born August 22, 1931, in Clarksburg, WV, the daughter of the late H. Phillip and Bertie L. Woods. Margaret’s husband, Franklin E. Mayo preceded her in death. Mrs. Mayo was also preceded in death by one brother George Woods and one-half brother Stanley Woods. Margaret is survived by four children, Steve Mayo and wife Carol of Dublin, OH, Becky Alastanos and husband Mike of Bridgeport, WV, Nancy White and husband Jeff of Alexandria, KY and David Mayo and wife Lisa of Dublin, OH. Margaret had 14 grandchildren, Allen, Marybeth (Chris Kallas), Sarah, Louie and Ben Mayo, Tiffany (John) Alastanos-Martin, Jennifer (John) Gemmellaro, Jessie (Jon) Erickson, Sydney (Brandon) Drew, Rachel and Taylor White and Grace, Lindsay and Marie Mayo. She also had four great grandchildren, Hallie Jane Drew, Berkley and Blaire Erickson and Jackson Gemmellaro. Margaret retired from Chase Bank where she held several positions. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially at Thanksgiving when everyone got together. Her hobbies included square dancing, reading, dominos and Sudoku puzzles. Margaret was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the church at 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330 or to your favorite charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2:00p.m. until 5:00p.m. The Funeral service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11:00a.m. with the Reverend Dr. Matthew Paugh presiding.
