Obituary of Jane Ashlyn Perkins
Jane Ashlyn Perkins, known by all as Ashlyn, was born January 28, 1965 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025 after a long, hard battle with early-onset dementia. As a young woman, she was a competitive swimmer and enjoyed many summers at Camp Kanuga. Following her graduation from Page High School in 1984, she attended Brevard College and Appalachian State University, pursuing degrees in teaching. On April 14, 1990, Ashlyn married Tim Perkins of Polk County, North Carolina. They were married for over 35 years and raised three kids: Holli, Jen, and Taylor. Since 1996, Ashlyn resided with her family in Raleigh County, West Virginia, where she spent her time as a special education teacher, community volunteer, workout buddy, mother, and friend. Throughout her career in the classroom, Ashlyn championed and nurtured her special needs students. Her soul was most fulfilled when surrounded by her family, friends, and pets in Maple Meadow, WV or Pawley’s Island, SC.
With the support of her loved ones, Ashlyn bravely endured the terminal diagnosis of early-onset dementia for over seven years. At the end of her life, she was diligently and compassionately cared for by the staffs of Harmony at White Oaks, Amedysis Hospice Care, and Ford Funeral Home.
