Obituary of Shelly Ann (Cheslock) Oliveto

Shelly Ann (Cheslock) Oliveto, 71, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, August 4, 2025. She was born on June 5, 1954 in Fairmont, the daughter of the late Ernest Cheslock and her mother Ileda (Friend) Cheslock, who survived her. In addition to her mother, Shelly is survived by her loving children, daughter, Tricia Long and her husband Mark of Fairmont, sons, Anthony Oliveto, and Michael Oliveto, both of Myrtle Beach, S.C., her beautiful grandchildren, Arabella, Talia, Joseph, and Nicholas, siblings, Marcia Morgan, Pam McMurtrie, and Kyle Cheslock as well as her lifelong best friend from high school, Janie Merendino of Fairmont, and longtime friend, Regina Lough-Ryan of Morgantown. Shelly was a proud 1972 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and remained friends ever since with a few special gals. After high school, she attended Fairmont State College. Shelly worked as an executive secretary with Consolidated Coal Company, and as a cashier at Aultman’s and Ace Hardware Store in Fairmont for several years. Shelly was a frugal soul, but had a very giving heart. She greatly enjoyed shopping, where she was known to purchase gifts for her friends and family. Shelly was also known for her delicious traditional holiday side dishes that she faithfully cooked. In addition to her father, Shelly was preceded in death by her sisters, Debbie and Monica Cheslock. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with Shelly’s wishes, cremation services will occur.
