
Obituary of Cynthia Taylor Woodward
Cynthia Taylor Woodward, 94, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at her home in Fairmont. She was born October 23, 1930 in Morgantown, WV a daughter of the late Leland H. and Alice Milner Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph D. Woodward.
Cynthia was a long-time member of Life United Methodist Church in Fairmont. She was a graduate of Morgantown High School as well as West Virginia University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology. She was a homemaker in her own home.
Cynthia truly was a lady. She was kind and caring, and was a friend to everyone she met. She was a member of the Green Hills Garden Club, as well as member of the P.E.O. Chapter R. She was a past member of the Junior League of Fairmont and served as a volunteer for many years at Fairmont General Hospital.
Cynthia is survived by her daughters, Susan and Richard Haley of Fairmont, and Carol Woodward Game of Morgantown, a daughter-in-law, Kim Woodward of Southside, WV, her grandchildren: Chelsea Woodward, John Woodward, Rebecca and her husband Jay Nellis, David Haley, Dylan Game and his companion Bella Hyslop, and Taylor Game, as well as her four great-grandchildren and “one on the way”. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marian Taylor of Seattle, Washington, several nephews, and her wonderful caregivers, who became like family: Jamie Moore, Kimberly Pierce, Patty Fetty, and Wendy Ribel.
In addition to her parents and husband, Cynthia was preceded in death by her step-mother, Viola Woods Taylor, her son John D. “Woody” Woodward, her son-in-law, Steven Ray Game, and her brother, Jerry Taylor.
Memorial donations may be made to the P.E.O. Chapter R, 20 Limerick Lane, Fairmont, WV 26554 with the goal to establish educational scholarships for women.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with her wishes, cremation services will be held. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 2PM until 6PM. A private graveside committal will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont.
