To Sondra and the whole Cain family: So many of the conversations I have had since Dave passed away have reminded me of how much people valued his friendship. Like an Irish Shanachie, he was a master story teller who valued the past and shared his knowledge. Personally, our bond as college fraternity brothers grew through the years. I treasure the memories of the many baseball road trips, the exploration of so many Civil War sites, the history round tables and speaking engagements we attended, and most of all the endless conversations we had on all of the above and more. Dave interviewed and wrote about my parents, a priceless gift to them that I will always remember. To me that embodied what Dave was all about: using his gifts to enhance the lives of others. Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of such a great guy. John Fredrick

Our Sincerest Condolences to Dave's Family. We were friends for 54 years, and we are Heartbroken to hear that Dave is gone. He was a wonderful person, smart, and funny. We remember once, when he came to our door , in NJ, and surprised us, waking us up at 7am. We were so surprised, and it was just one of Many Fabulous Times that we shared with Dave! He will be missed. Rest In Peace Brother.
