Erin Lynn Bunner

Obituary of Erin Lynn Weikle Bunner

Erin Lynn Bunner, 48, of Fairmont, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Born on August 9, 1976, she was the cherished daughter of Danny and Mary Weikle, also of Fairmont. Erin leaves behind her husband, Brent Bunner, and their beloved daughters, Gibson and Hollan. She is also survived by her sister, Colby Dziki, and brother-in-law, Brian Dziki, along with their daughters, Charlotte and Juliet. Erin’s mother-in-law, Beverly Bunner; sister-in-law, Bridget Cole; brother-in-law, Drew Cole; and their son, Chase, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Erin also had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family whom she adored. Preceding her in death were Erin’s grandparents, Robert Lee Weikle and Eunice Via Morgan of Ronceverte, West Virgina, and James Burton and Wilda May Jamison Foltz of Fairmont; her father-in-law, Clyde Douglas Bunner of Fairmont; as well as her uncle, James Sherman Foltz of Fairfax, Virginia. Erin was regarded for her inner and outer beauty and revered by all who knew her for her loving spirit and passion for life. She never met a stranger, expressing genuine interest in getting to know everyone she encountered and learning “their story.” These qualities extended to her professional life at West Virginia University, where she dearly loved her Mountaineer family and dedicated more than 18 years to serving and supporting students, faculty and staff as the Director of Teaching and Learning Applications. Erin had a deep appreciation for art in all its forms, as well as nature, reading, music and food. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and close friends. Her profound love for those she held dear shone throughout her life, and annual family trips to Nags Head, North Carolina, and Pipestem State Park were among Erin’s most precious memories. Erin earned bachelor’s and associate’s degrees in graphics and commercial design from Fairmont State University, then studied multimedia technology at Duquesne University. She was a 1994 graduate of East Fairmont High School, where she was a proud member of the 1993 AAA state champion cheerleading squad. Erin’s warm smile, radiant spirit and legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence has left an indelible mark on our hearts. As we celebrate her life, Erin’s light will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched.
