Obituary of James Ronald Gaines

James "Jim" Ronald Gaines, 88, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, June 13, 2025. Jim was born February 4, 1937 in Stonewood, one of six sons to the late Andrew and Eva Killard Gaines. Jim was a US Army veteran who served from 1961-1964. Jim worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways as a mechanic and foreman in Marion County for 25 years, retiring in 1999. He loved being outdoors, and some of his favorite things were fishing, camping, and gardening. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda Slaughter, his son James R. Gaines, Jr. (Norma) of Morgantown, and grandchildren Wyatt and Katherine. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont WV 26554.
