
Obituary of Susan Gail Sponaugle
Susan Gail Sponaugle, age 84, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025.
Born on September 24, 1940, in Fairview, WV, to Howard and Beatrice Tennant, Gail spent her life deeply connected to her family, community, and work.
Gail retired after over 40 years of dedicated service at Montana Water Association. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was known for her creativity and hardworking spirit. Gail found joy in making crafts with her husband, Jim, and together they would sell their handmade creations at local craft shows. Her passion for crafting was matched only by her love for socializing. She could often be found at McDonald's, catching up with friends and sharing laughter. She was an enthusiastic fan of local sports teams, Gail spent countless hours cheering on The Steelers, Pirates, WVU and Fairmont State.
In her later years, Gail resided at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home, where she continued to be a source of joy to those around her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Beatrice Tennant, her beloved husband James Sponaugle, son Steven Sponaugle and brother, Jay Tennant.
Gail is survived by her children, Brian Sponaugle, his wife Robin, Sandra Standley, her husband Mike, and Stacie Sponaugle; grandchildren, Jalen Marshall, and Caitlyn Standley; and many friends who will cherish her memory.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with Susan’s wishes, cremation services will occur.
