Obituary of Judy Ann Harris
Judy Ann Harris, 69, of Fairmont, WV, passed from this life on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born at Fairmont General Hospital on April 9, 1956, to Oliver Eugene and Mary Jane (Hovatter) Williams. She was the granddaughter of Jesse and Orpha (McIe) Hovatter and James and Dorothy (Haught) Williams.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she is proceeded in death by her sister, Olive Eugenia Martin, two brothers-in-law, Albert (Red) Sigley and Marvin (Eugene) Wiley, three nephews, Maurice (Butch) Hardman, Albert Sigley, Jr. and Marvin Wiley, Jr, and a nephew-in-law, Harold (Butch) Lallathin.
She leaves behind a devoted husband, Clyde Franklin Harris, and two children whom she always made feel loved and supported, Lawrence Eugene Vincent and Candy Reneé Marcum. She also leaves a son-in-law, whom she loved like a son, Chris Marcum, and a bonus son, Nick McCartney. She had one step-son, John Paul (JP) Harris. She had four grandchildren whom she adored: Paige King, Shane Marcum (and his wife, Ariel), Skilea Vincent, and Alexis Marcum. We are devastated that her great-grandchildren, Sebastian Marcum, Amira Wilson, Colton Marcum, Oliver Edgell, and Mei’lani Evans will not get to grow up with her amazing and loving presence in their lives.
She is survived by four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mary Levonne and James Grant, Nancy and Rex Merrill, Linda Kay Sigley, and Donna and Kenny Sleeth and several nieces and nephews: Sherry Lallathin, Beverly Everett, Jesse Wiley, Melissa Hardesty, Jessica Stewart, Brian Sigley, Rex Merrill, Melinda Merrill, Shawn Martin, Cynthia Stewart, and Kenneth Sleeth.
Also heartbroken by her passing are her former husband and still dear friend, Lawrence Vincent, and his siblings, Jeanie Vincent, Allen Slaughter, and Ladonna Efaw, and their families, along with close friends, Bub and Joy Martin.
Judy worked as a bartender at the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 20 years and was still a member of the organization where she enjoyed spending time with friends. After leaving the Eagles, she worked at the Country Club Shop ‘n Save until they closed and then transferred to the East Side Shop ‘n Save and worked there until medical issues made it impossible for her to work any longer.
She loved road trips and traveling, with the beach and Amish Country being some of her favorite places to visit. She never met a stranger and always made those around her feel welcome. More than anything though, she loved spending time with her family. From her annual family and friends Christmas parties to summer cookouts and holiday gatherings, she was always ready to host a party if it meant getting to spend time with those she loved. She had a very special bond with her grandchildren and did everything she could to be there to support them.
