Obituary of Alberta Jean (Jones) Blair
Alberta Jean (Jones) Blair, 96, of Irvine, California, passed away peacefully at Hoag Hospital in
Irvine, CA. on May 6, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 22, 1928 in
Fairmont, WV to the late Lloyd and Dale Jones and is the last surviving Sibling.
Alberta “Jean” graduated in 1944 from Farmington High School. She then went to work for Bell
Telephone as an operator until she married James Eugene Blair in 1948. They had five children
in West Virginia and then moved to Ohio where they had five more children. In 1964 they moved
to California. She lived in southern California for the remainder of her life.
She loved spending time with her family and taking road trips. She loved the clouds. She loved
working all the puzzles, painting, and watching her hummingbirds. She traveled as far west to
Hawaii and as far east to Spain. She would tell you, if you asked, that the most important travel
was a car load of family singing Take me Home – Country Roads – West Virginia, heading to the
Jones family reunion every year in August on the family farm.
She was an amazing daughter, sister, and mother. She was kind and loving. She helped her
parents on the farm wherever needed, whether it was in the house or out in the fields. Everybody
knew her as Momma Jean, including everyone on Mill Fall.
She is survived by four daughters: Linda Watson, Janet Stover (Smokey), Diana Cardinaels
(Rene), and Karen Field (Kevin), five sons: Ronald Blair (Violet), Robert Blair (Tamara), Rick
Blair (Cathy), Russell Blair, and Rodger Blair (Denise), 26 grandchildren, 27 great-
grandchildren, and 12 Great-great-great-grandchildren.
We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Hoag Hospital for all the love and care
shown and making it such a peaceful transition for our mother going to see our Lord.
